Ponyboy absolutely loved seeing his brothers this happy, this was the reason why he wanted to leave Tulsa for a bit, he missed moments like these.
“Darry , when’s a good time to leave ?” Said ponyboy getting up from the couch.
“Yeah Darry! When?” Soda laughed, beaming wildly.
Darry sighed and glanced over at the wall calender. “When do you finish school for the term, Pony? And Soda, can you get time off work?”” I get of school in June ” responded ponyboy cracking his knuckles. Darry had his thinking face on. ” That should work ” Said Darry, ” Just make sure you continue getting good grades ” added Darry messing up Ponyboys hair.
Soda laughed. “He sure will, he aced his test today!” He playfully shoved Pony in the back. “Ya little nerd boy you!” He laughed. Darry shot him a warning face and Soda punched him in the arm. “C’mon, Darry! It gonna be a sweet road trip.”
Ponyboy laughed and walked into the kitchen to grab a coke. He already began counting the days till the roadtrip. It was a couple of months, those couple of months would end up being the longest days of his life.
” Ponyboy do you have homewok ? ” Yelled Darry from the living room
” NO siree ” Responded Pony opening the coke
“Oi Pony!” Soda called out from the living room. “How many days is it then?” He laughed. He knew Pony would already have a little countdown clock ticking in his head. Darry shook his head and concentrated on his paper.
